During this project, students will create an outdoor pursuit road trip and will actually experience it "first-hand". They must create excitement about the trip, analyze the necessary skills needed to particpate in the pursuit, research costs associated with the trip (equipment, transportation, field guides, food, lodging, etc.), investigate funding sources for the trip, find out what is necessary to be able to go on a school field trip, summarize and present their trip to administrators, implement the excursion, assess themselves and others, and relfect upon their learning experience.
While this project was designed for 9th and 10th grade, it could be applied probably to as low as 8th grade and as high as 12th. The time frame could vary - I am allowing 10 weeks before doing it for the 1st time - but I probably am a little conservative (it will probably take less time).
