Partnership and Collaboration

 

Tori Calderhead

Tori is a teacher at the Charter School of Morgan Hill. She teaches in a multisubject 5th grade classroom. She is starting her 5th year of teaching and third at CSMH. She earned her Bachelors Degree at Boston University and taught for two years in Massachusetts.

Tori enjoys kayaking, hiking and teaching.

5th Grade Class

The 5th Graders are going to be studying about the early explorers of North America, like Columbus, Ponce de Leon, Cabot, Cartier, LaSalle. They will be creating a web page for each explorer which incorporates video.

The 5th Grade class will be helping the 8th Graders by acting as extras in videos, conducting critical reviews, assist with production, teaching technology and sharing projects and presentations. Students will also do some post-project small group work comparing and contrasting explorers.

 

 

8th Grade Class

The 8th Graders are going to be focused on Lewis and Clark and their exploration of the Louisiana Purchase and their goal to find a water route to the Pacific. They will be creating web pages with video clips which show the challenges the crew met at a variety of places during thier expedition. They will also see how this expedition might prepare someone for the 'Survivor' reality TV show.

The 8th Grade class will be helping the 5th Graders by acting as extras in videos, conducting critical reviews, assist with production, teaching technology and sharing projects and presentations. Students will also do some post-project small group work comparing and contrasting explorers.

 

 

David Cross

David also works at the Charter School and will be teaching 7th and 8th grade history and Pre-Algebra. He is starting his 9th year of teaching and third at CSMH. He earned his Bachelors Degree at the University of Santa Clara and his Masters Degree at the University of San Diego. He has taught previously at two local private school.

David is a retired Naval Officer who last served at Naval Special Warfare Group ONE in San Diego. He has been married for 24 years and has three children.
