Another mission of the Corps of Discovery was to catalog and map the new territories of the United States. Lewis and Clark not only accurately charted the terrain they covered, but they found hundreds of new species never before found, including Grizzly Bears and Bison.

The Expedition also 'discovered' numerous tribes of Native Americans who had lived on the land for thousands of years.
